About IGCSE Chemistry
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an examination in the UK developed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. The IGCSE examination is considered equivalent to the UK GCSE or O level examinations.
The curriculum of the IGCSE exam revolves around helping students develop scientific skills that are essential to take up the Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations. This way, students can master the subject by study further.
The grades for Cambridge IGCSE range from A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, or G. Students who do not meet the requirements are graded as “Ungraded”. A* is the highest grade. G is the lowest grade.
Core candidates take up Paper 1 (Multiple Choice), Paper 3 (Theory), and Paper 5 (Practical) or 6 (Alternative). Whereas, extended candidates take up Paper 2 (Multiple Choice), Paper 4 (Theory), and Paper 5 (Practical) or 6 (Alternative).
Cracking IGCSE Chemistry
ClearingCambridge IGCSE Chemistry enables students to:
- Develop scientific skills and perspectives
- Increased understanding of the technological world
- Application of the learned sciences to day-to-day life activities
- Develop positive attitudes (Accuracy, Precision, Objectivity, Integrity, Enquiry, Inventiveness, and Initiative)
- Understand the limitations of scientific study upon the society, economy, technology, ethics, the community, and the environment
Apart from video lessons, previous past question papers, students are also encouraged to learn more with help of IGCSE trained tutors. The School Support Hub ensures a comprehensive range of study materials, learner guides, updates, example candidate responses, and teachers’ guides.
The Cambridge recommended resources include:
- Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry (Fourth edition) (Hodder Education)
- Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry (Third edition) (Collins)
- Chemistry for Cambridge IGCSE (Fifth edition) (Cambridge University Press)
